The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has rejected recent media reports asserting that India's Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supply might take up to four years to recover. Such reports are described as misleading and inaccurate, according to an official statement released by the Ministry.
Emphasizing the country's secure energy posture, the Ministry detailed its strategic diversification of procurement from countries like the United States, Norway, Canada, Algeria, and Russia. This has secured 800 TMT of assured import cargoes, which are currently en route to India.
Furthermore, the LPG Control Order formulated in March 2026 has compelled refineries to boost LPG yields, enhancing domestic daily production by 40 percent. The Ministry underscored the effective delivery of 50 lakh LPG cylinders daily in March, maintaining a steady booking-to-delivery cycle of 5-6 days without any reported dry-outs.
The Ministry also highlighted the doubling of LPG infrastructure over the past decade, significantly improving India's structural resilience in the energy sector. Citizens have been cautioned against a misinformation campaign, urging reliance on verified information from official sources.
