The latest report by AuthBridge has unveiled ongoing discrepancies in hiring processes across India's workforce during the first half of fiscal year 2026. According to the Workforce Fraud Files, background verification discrepancies are notably prevalent in both white-collar roles and the gig economy, highlighting persistent challenges in the labor sector.

Data indicates a discrepancy rate of 4.33% in white-collar employment and a higher 5.61% among gig workers. The most common issues arise from employment history, address, and education verifications, posing significant organizational risks. AuthBridge CEO Ajay Trehan emphasizes the necessity for integrated background checks as a foundational component of hiring practices.

The report outlines severe discrepancies in specific sectors: high address verification issues in telecom, IT, and pharma, and employment verifications in retail and telecom. AuthBridge advises pre-offer screening and continuous monitoring, aiming to avert risks that could compromise organizational integrity and compliance.
