An Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF) member has struck a significant commercial deal to export 5,000 tonnes of basmati rice to the United States. This milestone comes on the heels of a crucial India-US trade agreement.
The new trade arrangement establishes lower reciprocal tariffs, reducing them from 25 percent to 18 percent on Indian exports to the US. The tariff reduction is seen as a boost for the Indian rice industry and other sectors benefiting from increased export opportunities.
The federation encourages all its members to uphold high quality standards in their exports, ensuring that India remains a trusted source of basmati rice and other goods globally. This development illustrates the growing trade ties between India and the United States.
