India's renewable energy sector is witnessing a significant transformation, spurred by advancements in energy storage, grid stability, and renewable integration. Rohit Chandra, Co-Founder and CEO of OMC Power, revealed an influential partnership with Japanese conglomerates Honda, Mitsui, and Chubu Electric in an exclusive conversation with ANI.
According to Chandra, OMC is a unique Indian platform uniting these major investors, designed to leverage electric vehicle (EV) batteries for stationary power. The move, set to initiate deployments by January 2026, signifies a pivotal shift in battery energy storage systems (BESS).
With India's power demand projected to quintuple in the medium term, Chandra emphasized that integrating storage is key to the sustainability of renewable projects. Despite challenges like grid stability, he affirmed that India's enabling policy environment is attracting foreign investments, solidifying its leadership in decentralized solar projects.
