Trump Dismisses 2028 VP Run: The 'Too Cute' Political Gambit
Former President Donald Trump has rejected the possibility of running for vice president in the 2028 election, deeming it 'too cute' despite supporters' suggestions. Trump acknowledges interest in a third term but cites constitutional constraints. He praises potential candidates JD Vance and Marco Rubio.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump rejected the idea of running for vice president in the 2028 election, labeling the notion as 'too cute.' This comes after some supporters suggested it as a way for Trump to secure a third presidential term, despite the constitutional ban.
During a discussion with reporters on Air Force One, Trump asserted, "I'd be allowed to do that," yet concluded, "I wouldn't do that... the people wouldn't like that. It's too cute." The 22nd Amendment prohibits anyone from being elected U.S. president more than twice.
Speculation arose about Trump potentially running as vice president under another candidate, who would then resign, allowing Trump to assume the presidency. While Trump expressed admiration for potential candidates like JD Vance and Marco Rubio, he distanced himself from the 'too cute' stratagem.
