In a bid to enhance fire safety standards for Telangana's burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, Director General Vikram Singh Mann of the Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defence Department carried out an in-depth inspection on Wednesday. His field visit emphasized the Kokapet corridor, including a detailed evaluation of the ChargeZone EV public charging station.
During the inspection, Mann engaged with technical experts to assess safety precautions against potential failures at the high-capacity DC fast chargers. Critical areas under review included systems preventing earth leakages, thermal monitoring tools, and protocols for automatic shutdowns during power surges, significant in high-traffic environments.
Additionally, the director's visit to a high-rise residential complex focused on scrutinizing the integration of EV infrastructure in residential areas, particularly the adequacy of firefighting systems in enclosed parking areas. Insights from this inspection are expected to guide the formulation of comprehensive state regulations targeted at maintaining safety within EV infrastructures.
