BEML Limited has achieved a significant milestone, securing a Rs 590 crore contract from the Ministry of Defence for the provision of trawl assemblies. These assemblies are intended for use on T-72 and T-90 tanks of the Indian Army.
The mine trawls were developed in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), specifically its R&DE unit in Pune. This domestically designed technology aligns with the Government of India's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, reducing reliance on imports.
The incorporation of these advanced trawls promises to enhance the operational efficiency of India's mechanized forces. By clearing mines in combat zones, the trawls offer improved mobility and survivability, providing a strategic edge in modern warfare.
