BEML Secures ₹590 Crore Contract for Indian Army Trawl Assemblies

In a move that underlines the country's growing focus on indigenous defence production, state-owned BEML Limited announced on Tuesday it has secured a new contract worth ₹590 crore. The Ministry of Defence has entrusted BEML with the task of supplying trawl assemblies for the Indian Army's T-72 and T-90 tanks.

A formal agreement was signed in the national capital, marking a significant step in boosting India's defence preparedness. The advanced trawl systems, equipped with multi-layered clearing mechanisms, are expected to enhance the operational effectiveness of Indian armed forces by ensuring safe passage in combat zones.

The collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is a testament to India's robust defence R&D ecosystem as BEML aims to fortify India's global anti-mine market presence. Shantanu Roy, BEML's CMD, emphasized the alignment with the 'Make in India' initiative, highlighting the commitment to equipping the armed forces with high-quality, indigenously developed solutions.
