Kerala is setting ambitious goals for its information technology sector, targeting the creation of 5 lakh jobs by 2031. The state aims to capture 10% of India's IT market while increasing the number of Global Capability Centers to 120, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced.
The announcement, made at the ReCode Kerala 2025 IT Seminar, coincided with the unveiling of the draft Vision Document for sectors including semiconductor and emerging technologies. The government is adopting a land-pooling model to expand IT infrastructure sustainably, highlighting Kerala's commitment to tech-driven development.
The state is investing in innovation with plans for the establishment of the Kerala Future Technology Mission and other dedicated bodies. Startups are flourishing, with Kerala seeing a 254% growth in the sector over two years. The government's focus on technology is also drawing substantial investments, strengthening Kerala's positioning in India's digital landscape.
