Veteran tennis star Venus Williams is setting her sights on the French Open, despite a string of ten consecutive losses in singles matches. At 45, the former world No. 1, remains optimistic about competing at Roland Garros next month, expressing renewed enthusiasm in her post-match press conference at the Madrid Open.

Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam champion, acknowledged her absence from full-time clay-court play, stating, "I started my practice on clay a couple weeks after Miami. It’s been years, but I love it." She recently lost 6-2, 6-4 to Spanish youngster Kaitlin Quevedo, despite finding joy in returning to the clay surface.

The tennis legend last claimed victory in July 2025 during a WTA event. Despite scheduling conflicts keeping her from Rome, Williams maintains her focus on the French Open, driven by a desire to reignite her career on the clay courts she cherishes dearly.
