In a dazzling ceremony held in Madrid, tennis stars Aryna Sabalenka and Carlos Alcaraz were recognized as the Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year at the prestigious Laureus Awards. Their stellar 2025 seasons placed them at the pinnacle of the women's and men's tennis rankings.
Alcaraz, 22, shone brightly by clinching two Grand Slam titles at the French and U.S. Opens, reestablishing his dominance in the sport. Meanwhile, Sabalenka, 27, showcased relentless performance, reaching finals in major tournaments and earning her place alongside past Laureus winners like Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka.
The event, co-hosted by Novak Djokovic and Eileen Gu, honored Rory McIlroy with the World Comeback of the Year Award for his successful campaign at the 2025 Masters. Lando Norris achieved the World Breakthrough of the Year, with Paris St Germain celebrated as World Team of the Year.
