The Department of Posts has recorded a landmark financial performance in FY 2025–26, achieving revenues of ₹15,296 crore, marking a robust 16% year-on-year growth over ₹13,218 crore in FY 2024–25. The milestone was highlighted during the Annual Business Review Meeting chaired by Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, in New Delhi.

The high-level meeting brought together senior officials from the Postal Directorate and Chief Postmasters General representing all 23 Postal Circles, aiming to review performance metrics and outline strategic priorities for FY 2026–27.

Strong Performance Amid Structural Transformation

Describing FY 2025–26 as a "historic year", the Minister emphasized that the Department has undergone significant structural and operational transformation, positioning itself as a modern, service-driven logistics and financial services entity. Despite achieving 88% of the total revenue target of ₹17,546 crore, the performance was noted as broad-based, with:

  • 8 Circles surpassing 90% of targets

  • 14 Circles achieving 80–90% performance levels

This indicates consistent performance across geographies while also highlighting areas for targeted improvement.

High-Growth Verticals Driving Momentum

The Department's growth story has been powered by several high-performing business verticals, reflecting a strategic pivot toward diversified revenue streams:

  • Citizen Centric Services (CCS): Fastest-growing segment with an impressive 70% growth, led by Delhi Circle with a remarkable 782% growth and 430% target achievement

  • Parcels: Recorded 69% growth, with Rajasthan Circle leading at 265% growth

  • Mail Operations: Achieved 34% growth, with Assam Circle emerging as the top performer

  • PLI/RPLI Insurance: Grew by 30%, driven by strong performance from Andhra Pradesh

  • Post Office Savings Bank (POSB): Delivered 13% growth, with Bihar Circle leading the segment

Rajasthan Circle Sets National Benchmark

Among all regions, Rajasthan Circle emerged as the best-performing Circle, achieving 102% of its revenue target along with a 34% annual growth rate, setting a performance benchmark for others to emulate.

Focus Areas: Parcels, Mail, and International Expansion

While commending the achievements, the Minister stressed that core operational segments—Parcels, Mail, and International Business—require intensified focus to unlock their full growth potential.

"India Post's future hinges on strengthening its logistics backbone and transforming Parcels and Mail into strong revenue engines," Scindia stated, underlining the need for greater market penetration and operational efficiency.

Strategic Roadmap for FY 2026–27

Outlining an ambitious roadmap, the Minister emphasized a data-driven, performance-oriented approach, backed by accountability and structural reforms. Key directives include:

  • Strengthening organisational frameworks at the Circle level through four core verticals: Parcel Operations, HR, Finance, and Business Development

  • Enhancing oversight via direct mapping of senior headquarters officers to Circles

  • Adopting a sales-driven business acquisition strategy, led by senior leadership

  • Implementing a customer lifecycle management approach for better service delivery

  • Integrating Mail and Parcel operations for operational synergy

The Minister also highlighted the need for strict cost discipline, improved Expenditure Coverage Ratio, and targeted interventions in underperforming regions.

Scaling Innovation and Replicating Best Practices

A key focus area for the coming year will be the replication of best-performing models across Circles, particularly in high-growth segments like Citizen Centric Services.

Additionally, the Department plans to:

  • Accelerate parcel and logistics business expansion

  • Deepen penetration of insurance and savings products

  • Revitalize international business operations

  • Target high-potential states and regions for accelerated growth

Vision for a Future-Ready Postal Network

Reinforcing alignment with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Minister stated that the Department of Posts is evolving into a "future-ready, tradition-rooted, value-centric and service-driven organization."

He expressed confidence that with sustained focus on innovation, operational excellence, and customer-centricity, India Post is well-positioned to achieve higher growth trajectories in FY 2026–27 and beyond.
