The Indian Army successfully rescued a large number of stranded tourists and locals after sudden heavy snowfall clogged roads in East Sikkim, officials reported on Wednesday.
In collaboration with the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) and local Sikkim Police, the army launched the rescue operation on Tuesday evening under challenging weather conditions.
The timely intervention allowed safe passage for those affected, restoring traffic movement on the vital Jawaharlal Nehru Road, officials stated.
