Soccer fans traveling to Philadelphia for the World Cup will benefit from free transport after each of the six matches taking place in the city, according to an announcement by Philadelphia Soccer 2026. This initiative is made possible through a partnership with travel rental platform Airbnb.
In a departure from other host cities, such as New Jersey and Boston, which are significantly increasing transportation costs for fans, Philadelphia is ensuring that SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) provides complimentary train rides home. The service, which begins at halftime and runs for two hours post-match, highlights the city's commitment to fan-friendly transit.
Governor Josh Shapiro pointed out the city's substantial investment in maintaining SEPTA's services, aligning with a broader vision to offer safe and affordable transportation for fans. Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field will host five group stage matches, starting with Ivory Coast versus Ecuador on June 14, plus a round of 16 match.
