The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has alerted the public to heatwave conditions in parts of Kerala, issuing an orange warning for high temperatures and humidity.
According to the IMD, districts like Kollam, Thrissur, and Palakkad are expected to face maximum temperatures reaching up to 41 degrees Celsius, as forecasted for the end of April. Consequently, the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has urged suspension of outdoor student activities.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan emphasized the severity of the situation, advising the population to avoid outdoors during peak hours. Safety measures, such as staying hydrated and wearing appropriate clothing, are being promoted widely.
