Georgia's largest wildfires have consumed over 33 square miles, prompting the state's first-ever burn ban. Firefighters are working tirelessly to contain the flames, with many residents receiving no prior warnings. Brantley County has been threatened, with nearly 1,000 homes at risk after a rapid growth in the fire's expanse.
Florida is also battling its worst fire season in decades, with over 130 wildfires reported. Smoke from these fires has affected air quality from Atlanta to Jacksonville. Officials stress the need for rain to mitigate the fire threat, as the combination of dry conditions and gusty winds exacerbates the situation.
