The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised a heatwave alert impacting four districts in Jharkhand on Thursday. Concurrently, it predicts light to moderate rainfall across various regions of the state starting April 24.
Across Jharkhand, temperatures hover between 34.6 and 43.4 degrees Celsius, with Daltonganj in Palamu registering the highest at 43.4 degrees over the past day. The heatwave would notably affect districts like Dumka, Jamtara, Dhanbad, and Bokaro.
In addition, gusty winds between 30-50 kmph, thunderstorms, and lightning are anticipated over the next three days. By Friday, northeastern districts will mainly be impacted by rain, with broader showers expected by Sunday. Deputy Director Abhishek Anand from IMD Ranchi highlighted a possible temperature drop in the coming week.
