Odisha Sizzles: Heatwave Forces School Closures as Mercury Soars

Odisha is grappling with intense heatwave conditions, causing a spike in temperatures up to 44 degrees Celsius in various regions, particularly in Jharsuguda and Talcher.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin from Bhubaneswar, 24 locations reported temperatures of 40 degrees or more. The searing heat has resulted in the closure of schools and colleges, with Cuttack extending academic breaks and Khurda shifting to early morning classes.
The heatwave persists, with forecasts indicating continued high temperatures. As a precaution, districts like Cuttack, Ganjam, and Jharsuguda have announced educational disruptions to ensure students' safety.
