Banda topped Uttar Pradesh's temperature charts on Tuesday, reaching a blistering 44.2 degrees Celsius. Other areas also sweltered, with Sultanpur, Prayagraj, and Jhansi experiencing similar heat. The state capital, Lucknow, too felt the brunt, registering temperatures slightly higher than usual, both at day and night.
The Meteorological Department reported no rainfall during this period, heightening concerns about the ongoing heatwave. The absence of rain has allowed temperatures to rise steadily, placing several areas under potential heatwave threats.
Forecasts indicate that the oppressive heat and lack of rainfall will continue, particularly around Lucknow, with daily highs possibly reaching 42 degrees Celsius. Residents are advised to remain cautious as low humidity levels could intensify the heat's effects.
