The Sattva Group, in conjunction with Knowledge Realty Trust and rePurpose Global, has embarked on an ambitious plan to combat the growing plastic waste problem on Karnataka's 320 km coastline. This collaborative effort, part of the 'Karnataka Zero Waste Initiative', aims to establish enduring, community-driven waste management systems.
Designed to run for a three-year period, the program will incorporate 50 coastal villages into structured waste management operations. In addition, it pledges to support 200 waste workers, directly impacting the region's ecological and economic health by reducing the 60 percent plastic litter dominating the coastline.
Shivam Agarwal, Vice President of Strategy at Sattva Group, emphasized the coastline's significance, stating that its improvement is closely tied to enhancing local livelihoods. The organization has completed 80 million square feet of real estate development and foresees another 100 million in progress.
