Kashmir's Weather Woes: Snowfall and Rain Lash the Valley

Kashmir's beautiful landscape was dramatically altered on Friday as heavy snowfall graced its higher reaches while the plains were enveloped by relentless rains. According to officials, Mughal Road in Shopian and Sadhna Top in Kupwara were among the areas witnessing fresh snowfall.

The inclement weather, impacted by a strong western disturbance, is projected to persist. Widespread rain and isolated snowfall have disrupted the tranquility, with the Meteorological Department indicating the effects might last until April 4 evening. Unpredictable conditions are expected to linger until April 10, with possibilities of thunderstorms and gusty winds adding to the valley's weather challenges.

Forecasts indicate moderate to heavy precipitation in select areas, raising concerns of potential flash floods or landslides. Officials urge farmers to temporarily suspend agricultural activities due to the adverse weather conditions that may lead to waterlogging in susceptible low-lying regions.
