In a bold statement, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu declared that Amaravati's position as the capital has garnered nationwide support, despite opposition attempts to undermine it. Naidu confidently stated that the central government's validation ensures that no one can challenge Amaravati's status henceforth.
Naidu, addressing a press conference, alleged that the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has tried to sabotage the Amaravati project by spreading misinformation. However, the passing of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 by Parliament, has solidified Amaravati's capital status.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the bill's passage, Naidu highlighted Amaravati's urban development plans, including the creation of nine cities with world-class infrastructure. Achieving a $2.4 trillion economy by 2047, with Amaravati as a growth driver, remains a key goal for the state.
