A tragic incident unfolded near the Bhikhampur halt in Dudhwa National Park's buffer zone when a tigress was killed after being struck by a train, authorities reported on Wednesday.
The carcass, believed to belong to a tigress aged between five to six years, was discovered by patrolling teams in the Mailani range. Deputy Director Kirti Chaudhary confirmed the incident and indicated that a preliminary postmortem examination supports accidental death due to a train collision.
Chaudhary emphasized that further examination, following the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines, is required to confirm the cause of death, and subsequent actions will be based on the findings.
