Cyclone Montha's Ferocious Strike on India's Eastern Coast

One fatality occurred as Cyclone Montha struck India's eastern coast, delivering relentless rain and strong winds, inflicting damage on both agriculture and utilities, officials confirmed Wednesday.

The meteorological department predicted torrential rains for Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, and West Bengal alongside wind gusts reaching 90 kmph. In Andhra Pradesh's Konaseema district, a 48-year-old woman lost her life when a palm tree toppled. Efforts to repair the electricity network were already in progress as over 38,000 hectares of farmland sustained damage.

Visuals from ANI, partially owned by Reuters, displayed rescue teams laboriously removing fallen trees and clearing blocked roads amidst ongoing rainfall. Additionally, the cyclonic disturbance led to extraordinary early snowfalls on Mount Everest's Tibetan side, forcing officials to restrict visitor movement as detailed in a notice.
