The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court ordered Bachchu Kadu, a leader of the Prahar Janshakti Party, and his supporters to vacate their protest site on a National Highway. The protest demanded a full farm loan waiver and significantly disrupted traffic flow.
The court, led by Justice Rajnish Vyas, intervened after media reports highlighted the ongoing agitation without permission. Justice Vyas emphasized that while protesters' rights cannot be ignored, public roads should not be obstructed, as it infringes on the citizens' right to free movement.
Kadu and over 10,000 protesters had continued their blockade without authorization, despite limited permission for a one-day protest. The bench directed peaceful removal of the protestors and tasked the Nagpur police commissioner with ensuring compliance and submitting a report by Thursday morning.
