In Jharkhand's Chatra district, a demonstration erupted as the family of Seeton Bhuiyan, a murder convict who passed away during treatment, sought justice. Bhuiyan, suffering from tuberculosis, died at Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on Tuesday, leading his family to demand the release of 17 fellow inmates implicated in the same 2018 case.

Despite administrative efforts, the family initially refused to carry out Bhuiyan's cremation upon the return of his body to his native village, Raja Kendua, on Tuesday. Their protest, which continued into Wednesday, put pressure on local authorities as they rallied community support.

With intervention from officials, the demonstration concluded, and Bhuiyan's body was finally cremated. Police officer Abhishek Singh recounted that a 2018 case involving the tragic death of a woman led to life sentences for 18 individuals from the Bhuiyan community, highlighting the ongoing repercussions of that judicial decision.
