In a decisive move to enhance emergency response, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the need to modernize and strengthen Uttar Pradesh's fire department. Facing challenges of rapid population growth and industrialization, the department is set to evolve with new specialized units and state-of-the-art technology, he announced on Thursday.
Adityanath outlined plans to establish units equipped to handle chemical, biological, and radiological emergencies, alongside those tackling incidents in super-high-rise buildings. To boost efficiency and transparency, new administrative positions and expanded training roles at the state fire training college have been approved.
Reforms include the deployment of smaller fire stations along expressways and the creation of 1,020 new posts. Fire service units have also been operationalized at several airports. These measures aim to ensure a swift, sensitive response to emergencies, safeguarding public life and property.
