The Meteorological Department announced on Wednesday that a well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal is moving northwest and is likely to intensify into a depression by October 22.
Located near the Tamil Nadu coast at 5:30 am, the system is predicted to head toward the north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts in the next 12 hours.
Anticipated to cause extremely heavy rainfall in select districts, officials are on high alert, cautioning residents against travel and advising precautions to minimize risks.
