On Tuesday, a magnitude 5.6 earthquake shook the coastal region near Ecuador. The tremor was reported by the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
According to EMSC, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 35 kilometers (22 miles). Local authorities are assessing the situation.
Despite the quake's strength, there were no immediate reports of casualties or structural damage. Residents in the area remain on high alert as aftershocks could continue.
