Trump Nominates Economist Phelan as Chief Adviser
U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated University of Minnesota professor Christopher Phelan as his chief economic adviser. Phelan would succeed Stephen Miran, who was appointed to the Federal Reserve's Board. Phelan brings extensive experience from academia and the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.
U.S. President Donald Trump has officially nominated Christopher Phelan, a long-time professor at the University of Minnesota, to serve as his chief economic adviser. This announcement was made by the White House on Tuesday.
Phelan is set to fill the role left vacant after Stephen Miran, who previously chaired the Council of Economic Advisers, was appointed to the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors. Phelan boasts an impressive tenure of nearly 19 years as a professor and has served as a senior economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.
Stephen Miran resigned from his position as chair of the White House's Council of Economic Advisers earlier this year in February, following through on a commitment he made to the Senate.
