Madhya Pradesh is set to host a special legislative assembly session on April 27, dedicated to discussing pressing issues related to women's empowerment. This initiative emerges shortly after the Lok Sabha's recent setback, witnessing the defeat of a bill aimed at instituting reservation for women in legislative bodies.
The session, titled 'Nari Shakti Vandan - women's holistic development and their empowerment', seeks to reinvigorate dialogue on female empowerment in the wake of the bill's failure. Although the bill gained significant support, it fell short of the required two-thirds majority to pass, as 230 MPs voted against it.
In response, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav criticized the Congress for its stance in the Lok Sabha and announced the state assembly's special session, underscoring the state's commitment to advancing women's roles in governance and society.
