A special session of the Madhya Pradesh assembly is set for April 27 to deliberate on women's holistic development and empowerment. This follows the recent defeat of a women's reservation bill in the Lok Sabha, drawing criticism from the opposition Congress.
The Congress expressed support for advancing women's rights but questioned the BJP-led government's selective approach in convening special sessions for various serious matters, such as child fatalities linked to cough syrup and deaths from contaminated water.
Assembly Leader of Opposition, Umang Singhar, criticized the government's urgency to convene sessions only when politically convenient, urging more consistent attention to issues impacting broader communities in the state.
