Sharad Pawar, president of NCP (SP), announced he cannot vote in the Baramati bypoll due to health issues. He urged support for Sunetra Pawar, contesting from the ruling Mahayuti. The bypoll, necessitated by Ajit Pawar's death, will be held on April 23, with results on May 4.

Veteran politician and NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar has made a heartfelt appeal to voters to support Sunetra Pawar in the upcoming Baramati assembly bypoll. His announcement follows a sudden deterioration in his health that will prevent him from casting his vote as doctors have advised him against travel.
Pawar, 85, was hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after his condition worsened unexpectedly. The bypoll was necessitated by the tragic death of Maharashtra's deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash earlier this year. In his absence, Sunetra Pawar is contesting from the ruling Mahayuti, with no opposition from the rival NCP (SP).
Despite exploring alternative voting options, election authorities informed Pawar that such provisions were unavailable. Expressing his regrets with a heavy heart, Pawar has urged the electorate to honor the legacy of Ajit Pawar by voting for Sunetra Pawar, seeing it as a tribute to the departed leader.
