Postal Voting Commences in Tamil Nadu Ahead of Crucial Assembly Elections

In Tamil Nadu, postal voting has begun for government employees and others on electoral duty, ensuring their participation in the upcoming Assembly elections despite their assignments elsewhere. Initiated at Returning Officers’ offices, this move facilitates voting for officials, media personnel, and emergency services engaged in critical election roles.

Personnel from various departments are casting postal votes today at the Revenue Divisional Officer’s office in Tiruchirappalli, a measure taken to accommodate those deployed outside their constituencies or working on polling day. These arrangements, approved by the Election Commission, allow essential workers to exercise their franchise using postal ballots ahead of the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly election.

With anticipation building, Tiruchirappalli West witnesses a fierce three-way electoral battle, while the East sees a high-voltage contest, underscoring the election's significance. A preparatory meeting led by Deputy Election Commissioner Bhanu Prakash Yeturu focused on security and logistical arrangements across districts to ensure orderly polling and vote counting.
