In a show of political strength, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma spearheaded a roadshow on Friday in support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Shankar Ghosh for the Siliguri Assembly constituency in West Bengal. Ghosh is contesting against Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Goutam Deb and Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Alok Dhara.
West Bengal's electorate is poised to vote in two phases scheduled for April 23 and 29, with outcomes set to be unveiled on May 4. At the roadshow, Sharma launched an assault on the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government, asserting the populace was resolved to oust what he deemed a corrupt administration.
The event occurs amid heightened political drama with Suvendu Adhikari, West Bengal Assembly Leader of Opposition, penning a letter to the Election Commission of India. Adhikari accused TMC and its consultancy, I-PAC, of orchestrating a 'grave conspiracy' to disrupt democratic integrity by allegedly distributing fake press identification cards.
