Priyanka Gandhi Criticizes BJP's Implementation of Women's Reservation Act

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has criticized the Indian government's approach to implementing the Women's Reservation Act, accusing the BJP of undermining democracy by marginalizing certain states and depriving Other Backward Classes (OBCs) of their rights.

Speaking during a Lok Sabha debate, Gandhi pledged Congress's support for women's reservation if implemented transparently and within the current strength of the Lok Sabha, emphasizing the need for inclusion of OBC women. She accused the government of misleading the public, claiming its actions threatened the nation's democratic integrity.

Gandhi questioned the rationale behind linking the Women's Reservation Bill to an expansion of Lok Sabha seats based on outdated census figures, raising concerns over transparency. Criticizing BJP's portrayal as champions of women's rights, she highlighted past Congress efforts to establish women's reservation.
