On Thursday, a local court extended the police remand of BJP MLA Ashish Sharma's uncle and brother by two more days. The duo, entangled in the Poong Khad illegal mining case, had their anticipatory bail pleas denied by both the Himachal Pradesh High Court and the Supreme Court.

The apex court had instructed them to surrender by March 19, which they complied with on Wednesday before the chief judicial magistrate. Subsequently, they were placed under a day's police remand initially, which was extended further in Hamirpur's court on Thursday.

The case involves allegations of illegal mining linked to a stone crusher unit connected to the MLA's family. The case was filed at Sujanpur police station, and further court proceedings are scheduled for Saturday, according to SP Balveer Singh Thakur.
