The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal on Thursday launched the 'Yuva Shakti Bhorosa Card' as a part of its electoral strategy ahead of the assembly elections, aiming to attract unemployed youth with a proposed monthly assistance of Rs 3,000 if they come to power.

The initiative was announced by renowned sports personalities Leander Paes and Vijender Singh alongside state BJYM president Indranil Khan. This card is seen as a direct challenge to the ruling TMC's 'Banglar Yuba Sathi' scheme, which offers Rs 1,500 per month to unemployed youths.

The BJP has also introduced the 'Matrishakti Bhorosa Card' that promises monthly aid for women, countering the TMC's 'Lakshmir Bhandar' scheme. As elections loom, the TMC has accused the BJP of violating the election code of conduct.
