Naveen Patnaik, President of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), has issued a clarion call to all Members of Parliament from Odisha, urging them to collectively resist the perceived threats posed by the constitutional 131st Amendment Bill to the state's political and economic interests.

Despite his approval of the Women's Reservation Bill, Patnaik opposes the current form of the Delimitation Bill. He raised concerns in a letter to Odisha's MPs, highlighting its potential impact on the state's Lok Sabha representation. The Bill, as proposed, might lead to a reduction in Odisha's political voice.

In mobilizing his fellow lawmakers, Patnaik emphasized the need to safeguard Odisha’s equitable representation. He warned against any changes in political dynamics that could result in diminished presence on the national stage and called for unity to protect the state’s interests effectively.
