Odisha's Heatwave Scorching Cities
Odisha experienced severe heatwave conditions as temperatures soared above 40°C in multiple locations. Titlagarh was the hottest at 43.7°C, followed closely by Jharsuguda. The high temperatures are expected to persist, with thunderstorms anticipated in some regions.

Odisha is reeling under a severe heatwave as temperatures soared past 40 degrees Celsius in at least 12 locations, reported the India Meteorological Department on Thursday.
Titlagarh town in Bolangir district emerged as the hottest place, registering a scorching 43.7 degrees Celsius, closely followed by Jharsuguda at 43.6 degrees Celsius. In Bhawanipatna, the mercury rose to 42.5 degrees Celsius while Sambalpur, Hirakud, and Bolangir recorded temperatures of 42.2 degrees.
The heatwave is expected to continue with Bhubaneswar and Cuttack clocking 35.3 and 35.4 degrees Celsius, respectively. Thunderstorms are likely in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and other areas, offering a possible respite from the oppressive heat, officials stated.
