APCC President YS Sharmila has urged Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to stand against the Delimitation Bill in Parliament, arguing it poses significant risks to Andhra Pradesh. The bill, up for debate in a special parliamentary session, targets a significant constitutional amendment with implications for women's quota law and contentious delimitation.
Sharmila highlighted that Andhra Pradesh, as a deficit state, could suffer if the bill leads to increased Lok Sabha seats, thereby boosting northern India's political clout. This, she asserts, may result in diminished central funding for key state projects like Amaravati capital and Polavaram Project.
She has called for Naidu to mobilize all state MPs to oppose the bill, warning that a failure to act could endanger the state's future. She cautioned that the Congress party would initiate a statewide movement if Naidu does not protect Andhra Pradesh’s interests.
