Political Clash Intensifies Over Delimitation Bill in West Bengal

BJP leader Smriti Irani criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her stance against the delimitation bill. "It is unfortunate that BJP's male leaders are advocating for increased women's participation, while the opposition, led by a prominent woman, opposes the effort," said Irani.

She further accused Banerjee of disregarding equal application of the law, citing TMC's alleged political misuse of legislation. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman echoed these sentiments, challenging Banerjee's views that the bill would divide Bengal.

Mamata Banerjee contends that the bill, associated with increasing Lok Sabha seats, lacks proper consultation and aims at dividing Bengal during an electoral period. She warned against the government's motives, linking the delimitation process with women's reservations planned for the 2029 General Elections.
