In the run-up to the Tamil Nadu elections, accusations of widespread corruption and criminal activity have been leveled against leading DMK figures by Aadhav Arjuna, the TVK's Villivakkam candidate. Arjuna alleges Chief Minister MK Stalin has failed in his leadership, allowing the constituency to be plagued by alcohol and drug problems.
Arjuna accuses DMK officials, including Treasurer TR Baalu, of profiteering from liquor sales, claiming they control billions through benami companies and factories. He cited increased rape and murder incidents, with women particularly fearing for their safety amid the alleged drug trade escalation.
Despite challenging circumstances, Arjuna reports strong backing from female voters, vowing substantial changes if elected. This comes as Tamil Nadu prepares for elections on April 23, with the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance and the National Democratic Alliance fronted by AIADMK locked in fierce competition.
