The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its list of 27 candidates for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections set for April 23. Among the notable candidates are Union Minister L Murugan, contesting from Avanashi, and Tamilisai Soundararajan, a former Telangana Governor, from Mylapore.
Despite speculation, previous state party head K Annamalai opted out of the contest, citing his father's health. He had previously expressed disinterest in running but remains active in the campaign, emphasizing a commitment to party responsibilities.
The BJP targets a strong electoral performance, with members like Rajya Sabha MP Murugan aiming to capitalize on support against the ruling DMK by highlighting governance concerns. The BJP's strategy includes fielding high-profile figures and renewing alliances to bolster their position in Tamil Nadu politics.
