Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has raised serious concerns over the state of democracy in India under the rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In a bold statement, Gehlot, a former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, described the situation as 'very dangerous.'
Speaking with reporters, he asserted that if democracy does not endure, it could have grave implications for future generations. Gehlot alleged that the BJP, in close alignment with the RSS, is weakening democratic processes by putting undue pressure on the judiciary and misusing agencies like the Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax Department, and the CBI.
He accused the BJP of creating a communal narrative each time the Congress raises issues. Worrying about the implications of a weakened democracy, Gehlot urged for greater political accountability, especially addressing critiques of politicians based on age, citing his continued dedication to public service.
