In a heated election battle, senior Congress leader Pawan Khera has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of deliberately diverting attention from pivotal issues affecting Assam's electorate. He condemned BJP's controversial tactics, which he believes are an attempt to distract public focus away from the ruling party's failures.

Khera took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing the latter's comments on the Communal Violence Bill as perplexing, considering Modi’s long tenure in power. According to Khera, BJP's fixation on past events showcases the party's lack of substantial achievements to present to voters. He also criticized Home Minister Amit Shah's divisive rhetoric concerning Muslim communities in Assam.

Touching on the allegations involving various political figures, Khera asserted that distractions like those presented by AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi are orchestrated by BJP to split electoral votes. Furthermore, he highlighted the sentiment of betrayal felt by many Assamese due to BJP policies, foreshadowing significant impacts on the upcoming Bihu festival without the influential voice of singer Zubeen Garg.
