The Dynasty Divide: Martin Family's Diverse Electoral Journey in Tamil Nadu

The Martin family, a well-known dynasty from Tamil Nadu, has emerged as key players in the state Assembly elections, taking varied political paths. Santiago Martin, famously dubbed the 'lottery king,' sees his family members vying for office through three different parties.

Leema Rose, Martin's wife, has been fielded from the Lalgudi Assembly constituency by the AIADMK. Their son, Jose Charles Martin, launched and represents his party, Latchiya Jananayaga Katchi, contesting from Kamaraj Nagar in Puducherry under the AINRC-led NDA's banner. Meanwhile, Martin’s son-in-law Aadhav Arjuna seeks a seat in Villivakkam, Chennai, under the TVK, after shifting allegiance from the VCK.

This election marks the electoral debut for all three on April 9 and 23. Jose Charles, a former BJP member, envisions transforming Puducherry as a developed enclave while leading Martin Group. The Martin family’s diverse political strides highlight varying visions within a single lineage.
