Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain: Leading Southern Command with Distinction

On Wednesday, Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain assumed the role of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command, following Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, who now serves as Vice Chief of the Indian Army.
Jain, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, joined the MAHAR Regiment in June 1988 and has since amassed nearly four decades of extensive experience in command and staff roles. According to a Defence release, his illustrious career includes commanding roles during the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, operations in Northern Command, and high-altitude and insurgency operations along the Line of Control and in the North East.
A recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Sena Medal, Lt General Jain was honored with a Guard of Honour upon assuming command and paid homage at the Southern Command War Memorial. His leadership will continue to prioritize operational readiness across Southern Command's diverse responsibilities, including desert, coastal, and island regions.
