Harvinder Singh Phoolka's Political Shift: A New Chapter with BJP

Harvinder Singh Phoolka, an influential figure known for representing 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims, has made a significant political move by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This development comes as a boost for the BJP's efforts to strengthen ties with Sikh communities ahead of the 2027 Punjab assembly elections.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann responded to Phoolka's departure from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) with skepticism, highlighting that elected officials who abandon their constituents rarely succeed again. Mann congratulated Phoolka but expressed doubt over his electoral prospects, recalling Phoolka's resignation from the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

Phoolka joined AAP in 2014 but called it a 'mistake,' citing internal disillusionment. He refrained from joining the Shiromani Akali Dal, despite previous announcements, reflecting a pattern of shifting alliances. His legal work and commitment to justice remain defining aspects of his career.
