The opposition BJP in Jharkhand has announced a bandh for April 3, seeking justice for a 12-year-old girl allegedly raped and murdered in Hazaribag district.
The party declared torchlight processions at district headquarters statewide on April 2 to rally support. BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo criticized the state's law enforcement, citing an uptick in crimes including thousands of rapes, kidnappings, thefts, and murders, and claimed police inaction until BJP state president Aditya Sahu intervened.
In response, the Jharkhand High Court has taken notice, and a Special Investigation Team is probing the tragedy. A BJP delegation addressed perceived lapses in law and order with DGP Tadasha Mishra, alleging political bias in recent stone-pelting arrests during a Ram Navami event in Khunti.
